Bob discusses cliches, archetypes, and the boundary-less android meme
Scott: So, in this chart any cliche probe can move from cliche to archetype status and back to cliche status?
Bob: Yeah, that’s what is going on here…Remember, in the Rumplestiltskin corner at the bottom, the ratio is the formula chart to the tiny note chart. Normally, you’d think the formula chart is the ground chart where everything came out of because I did take the tiny note chart out of the Bob Dobbs formula chart, right? I purposely make the formula chart the figure to indicate that the formula chart refers to the development before the android meme coming from humans, extensions of humans. The tiny note chart is the phase after that when the android meme is extending itself. The android meme is the ground and it is pretending human beings are the figures…
Scott: You mean each individual as opposed to some genius like an Einstein that did it for everybody, everybody is doing it for themselves
Bob: Yes, that’s a half truth what you’re saying, and the Einsteins that are still there or the Bill Gates…they are a figures for the evolution that is going on. Not just you, you and the genius.
Bob: The point is that the ratio of the formula chart is figure to the tiny note chart. The relationship between the two charts is what is going on, the flipping back and forth…The formula chart is archetypal, you don’t have the word “cliche” in the title, it’s how the media archetypes fit the battle of Jericho. But, you have the word “cliche” in the tiny note chart. So I have “holeopathic backspins/retrievals” that’s half the tetrad. Then you have “holeopathic cliche probes/flippings” the other part of the tetrad, probes being the extensions of front spins. There is the tetrad right there in the relationship of the two charts…As you speed up an environment, it takes that 4 stage process…The “last word” is the latest technology or invention…and then a new “last word” comes along and obsolesces the first “last word” i’m talking about and turns it into a cliche, then an art form, and then an archetype. As this process speeds up and you actually get beyond that sequential phase. After 1960, the android meme is doing it more rapidly and not in order. It’s offering an archetype as the “last word” and then it becomes an art form or it offers the art form as a cliche and then it becomes an archetype.
Scott: Is that where is starts going anamorphic?
Bob: Yes, exactly! It’s past the symmetry of the Thompson quadrant which is fractal. The micro mirrors the macro…that’s still within a visual framework, symmetry. When you get into non-visual tactile chaos it’s the anamorphic. This chart is anamorphic, but it is supposed to be the opposite of that and give you order, especially for visual biased people.
Scott: When I think of anamorphic I think of the distorting mirrors at the circus…
Bob: When you flip the cliches and archetypes back and forth they begin to get confused and get into Terrance McKenna’s boundary-less situation. That’s what was funny about McKenna advocating we dissolve our boundaries when actually people needed to find ways to rebuild their boundaries at least temporarily, which is what this chart offers. They were going psychotic in the boundary-less fact that they lived in, the android meme. Even the android meme gets to the phase of propping up boundaries, that’s what the PC computer and present user generated myspace and youtube has made people think they have autonomy and they have created boundaries. Though they are manic! They went to diminish their boundaries by claiming they have a thousand friends…they want to create a crowd and feel less isolated.

Bob discusses the Dobb’s quadrant
Bob: So, it’s a way of taking the quadrants, and showing different aspects from different disciplines and categories…caused by media. The media environments! But, all of this is replayed in the 90’s as an afterimage when these moods caused by media do not effect people anymore. The 50’s do not happen in the 90’s, the 60’s don’t happen in the 90’s, neither do the 70’s or 80’s. What happens in the 90’s is nothing, other than popular acceptance of a friendly android meme encouraging you to get more embedded and use it…you could said the mood of “no change” or the fact of “no change” is a hidden effect of the android meme…
Scott: The was during the internet boom phase which was pretty ecstatic and hysterical. Culminating in what everyone expected to be the huge change which was Y2K, which turned out to be nothing.
Bob: Yes, there was a big crash everyone was waiting for. You’ll notice my zone is 1990 and the emotional quality is ecstasy. You just said that! The dot-com boom of the 90’s was an ecstasy of enjoying your cyber nature…so the 90’s has images of all the decades, all of the phases…quadrophrenia of the decade category. These moods were the surface images and replays within the chip landscape of the android meme. As you move further into the 90’s…you could retrieve anything. Now, you end up with Youtube, which is a new kind of akashic records.
Bob: Now here is a point about the phase shifts once you get into the android meme in the 90’s, there is no more phase shifts! And that’s another reason why we have the subatomic particles which we are not even sure if they exist, it’s questionable if they ever really happened. So “demon nuclei” which is for the quadrant from 60′ to 90′ (Dobbs) which is the whole chart. This chart is the afterimage of the 60’s to 90’s so it is the afterimage of the “demon nuclei.”
Scott: Is afterimage to imply it’s visual?
Bob: No, afterimage is to imply that it ain’t there anymore.
Scott: When I think of afterimage I imagine someone taking my pictures with a flash and I close my eyes and I still see the flash.
Bob: Yes, you get an afterimage as an effect of the changes on your senses…an echo, you could call it an echo.
Scott: or reverberations.
Bob: Yeah! but not reverberations when the environment is real. The environment is not there in the 90’s…this chart represents a period that has no content.
Scott: The afterglow.
Bob: Yes, the afterglow. The 90’s presented access to all of this information, which Kroker called the
post-informational society. Where none of this data…has any constituent force. All this media brings in this stuff and people become more restless and want more, [they want it] faster and quicker…it becomes more and more fleeting, we become a life of virtual particles like the categories of the subatomic references. So you have this surfeit of amazing references to all kinds of content but it’s pointing out that it’s just software prefiguring of a real revolution, which is cold fusion.
